SVS supports renewable energy projects based on social finance to accelerate the green transition, and to contribute to the spread of the Korean Green New Deal policy. To this end, SVS established an investment corporation for the deployment of rooftop solar power in small and medium-sized factories (Sept. 2020) together with private innovation company Solar Equity, impact investment firm, D3 Jubilee Partners, and Ark Impact Asset Management.
In April 2021, financial institutions leading in ‘Green New Deal’ and ‘ESG investment’ launched Korea’s first specialized loan fund for rooftop solar power for factory leases, and are providing funds in the form of loans to special purpose companies (SPCs) that are included in the investment corporation.
As of the end of December 2023, the company has installed, acquired, and operated 16.7 MW of power plants in Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam province, and the annual carbon dioxide reduction from these plants is 21,277 tons, which is equivalent to the effect of planting 2,837 pine trees (based on the CO2 absorption rate of pine trees in Gangwon Province with 10 years of age of 7.5 [tCO2/1 tree]).
