Together with the Korea Federation of Citizen Energy Cooperatives, SVS created a project loan fund for energy coops to fund the installation cost of citizen-participating solar power plants. With this fund, local energy cooperatives across the country can operate 1MW plants and secure stable full-time staffs.
As a national network organization, the Korea Federation of Citizen Energy Cooperatives is playing a central role in energy transition through citizen participation and is expanding its role as a social finance intermediary.
As of December 2022, investment was made to five cooperatives to co-finance citizen-participation public site solar projects, and as of the end of December 2023, a total of 11 cooperatives were invested.
