On April 9th, the Korea Social Value and Solidarity Foundation presented its case study at the “Impact Wholesalers and Fund of Funds in Asia” session of the Impact Dialogue hosted by GSG Impact, the global network for impact investing. Alongside examples from Japan and Australia, we shared the Foundation’s establishment process, performance over the past six years, and challenges, confirming the value and potential of wholesale funds.
In the case of Japan, dormant deposit utilization laws have been enacted to provide funds to organizations engaged in public benefit activities through subsidies and investments. Australia is operating a wholesale fund for the purpose of international development cooperation in the Southeast Asia-Oceania region, and is also reportedly promoting the establishment of a domestic wholesale fund. Although the process of fund formation, financial resources, and governance structures vary by country, all shared the common goal of providing finance centered on impact and fostering the impact ecosystem.
We thank GSG Impact for the invitation!
